Our toddler environment is crafted to ensure children’s natural growth which stimulates all tendencies. Our toddler environment focuses on developing child’s language, social behaviour, coordinated movements by allowing them to independently choosing their choice of activity. In our toddler environment, we tap into the natural intelligence, creativity, and enthusiasm of the children. In a Montessori environment, children learn by themselves, they only need the help of an adult, who are highly accessible at all times, to help them to do things by themselves.
The program promotes child’s growth in all areas of development because a child develops rapidly during the first three years of its life. During this period, large amounts of information is absorbed through observations and experiences that lays a stronger foundation for their future. The child’s first three years of their lives are of most importance, it is a period for developments and growth. The child’s core of personality, the human values and social skills are developed during this period.
Right from entering the classroom till they leave, the toddlers do all their work by themselves; as soon as enter, they keep their belongings on the shelves, marked specially for them with their name and photo and again pick them back by themselves when leaving for the day. Through activities like community-helping like cleaning, dusting, mopping, etc. they learn self-care and respect for others where they also indulge in activities like food preparation, flower arrangement, etc. Knowing our surroundings, taking care of things around and being a good helper, is what they learn in community helping activities.
Various activities keep them engaged and helps them to understand the environment; some of the activities are painting, colouring, sticking pictures, planting, learning seed germination, etc. The children are introduced to language by phonics, the activities help them recognize patterns, shapes, differentiating, comparing things, etc. They learn rhymes, read through picture books, and lots of singing and dancing. With a special range of activities, the children will learn gross motor skills, fine motor skills and, number recognition and sensory development. They learn to be a part of the environment, and most importantly they understand that they are a part of the society.
